Who can participate - prerequisites

Participants are expected to have previous language knowledge corresponding to language level B1. In addition, people who are registered with the Agentur für Arbeit as jobseekers or training seekers or who receive benefits in accordance with SGB II, as well as trainees and employees, are entitled to take part in the courses. Overarching goals
  • An improvement in the chances of placement and sustainable integration is achieved.
  • Comprehensive qualification potential is not lost to the labour market and society.
  • Participants are no longer unemployed and no longer a financial burden for the state.
Special course goals
  • The participants are linguistically so well qualified that they can find a suitable job on the labour or training market and integrate professionally.
  • Participants will be able to combine theoretically acquired language and specialist knowledge with practical aspects and successfully implement it in their future working life in a company.
  • The participants are personally strengthened and motivated to integrate themselves purposefully into society and working life.
Tasks during the course
  • The linguistic and other job-related competencies are taught on the basis of content that is relevant for the participants in their future professional lives.
  • Qualified extension of language skills e.g. to B2 or C1 level, and targeted teaching of basic technical skills, taking into account individual qualifications and needs.
  • The teaching of topics from the fields of communication and learning at the workplace, job search, vocational orientation, initial and continuing training and legal framework conditions.
  • The teaching methods we use are flexibly tailored to the individual and collective requirements of the participants in order to meet their specific needs.
  • Classes are conducted with the help of recognised teaching materials and supplemented by specific topics. The practical use of the acquired language skills, as well as the imparting of the technical competences include brainstorming, question and answer sessions, lectures and presentations, individual and group work phases, role plays and project work; the teachers use a versatile repertoire of media and tools, such as whiteboards, flip chart, meta plan, projector, recorder, etc. The teaching material is designed to meet the specific needs of the students.
  • The close cooperation between project management, teachers and social education worker is an essential guarantee for the success of the entire project.
  • During the entire duration of the language courses, learning objective checks are carried out on a regular basis. The focus is on the use of various test methods as well as structured assessments and satisfaction assessments on the part of the participants in order to be able to recognise any deviations and potential conflicts at an early stage and to ensure the overall success of the measure. At the end of each language course, an official examination process with Telc (certificate examination e.g. B2 or C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – CEFR) is carried out to obtain an official language certificate.
  • Consideration of recognised quality management methodology to ensure compliance with specific standards throughout the courses.

The professional language courses are supported by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. Participation is free of charge for participants.

Exception: Employees currently pay a personal contribution of € 2.07 per teaching unit if their taxable income exceeds € 20,000.00 in the case of individual assessment and € 40,000.00 p.a. in the case of joint assessment.

Special aspects / cross-section goals

Access to the first labour market: Taking into account the specific strengths and career aspirations of the individual participants, they are advised during the course to make contact with potential employers and/or training centres in order to increase their chances of taking up employment or training after the end of the course.

Gender Mainstreaming: The courses are open to both male and female students. On the basis of competence assessment procedures and clarification discussions, participants of different age groups and completely independent of gender have already been identified for the courses. During the courses, regular team meetings with the teachers and the project management ensure that women and men are treated absolutely equally. Special requirements, which may arise, for example, from childcare needs, are taken into account as much as possible in the time schedule of the course.

Promotion of equal opportunities and non-discrimination: On the basis of previous competence assessments or clarification discussions, these courses are open to all participants, regardless of gender, age or cultural background. At the same time a balance of the participant structure is strived for. Both in the lessons given to the participants collectively and through individual supervision, the project staff will make sure that no discrimination takes place. In special cases with special needs, corrective intervention is carried out by the project management.

Ecological sustainability: Throughout the entire courses, it is ensured that ecological sustainability is taken into account and that energy is not wasted unnecessarily (heating, lighting). In addition, crockery and cutlery are provided so that the use of environmentally harmful disposable packaging and disposable crockery and cutlery will be avoided as much as possible.
